Tuesday Treats – Vintage Christmas Party Dresses

I can’t wait until Christmas and have already got a vintage dress to wear to the one and only Christmas party that I will be going to this year. But I have seen so many other beautiful dresses and I thought that I would share some with you. The great thing about these dresses is that they make a change to the standard little black dress or long black evening dress but as so many of these vintage styles are on trend, you won’t look out of place. I also love the idea of wearing bright colours at Christmas.

Tuesday Treats – Vintage Fashion Accessories and Christmas Gifts

I have great fun shopping for vintage and second hand goodies for the ethical outfit competition goody bags. So much so that I have decided to try and buy as many vintage Christmas gifts as possible this year. Over the last few years, I have been feeling that Christmas has just been turning into a mad consumer fest. So this year in the interests of sustainability, I am attempting to have a ‘Vintage and Handmade Christmas’.

This does of course take a little more time than buying the usual load of Christmas stuff with Mr Style Eyes threatening to get the Christmas CD out already, I thought it was high time I got on with some Christmas shopping or at least research.

As clothing is difficult to buy for other people I really like buying accessories.

You will find a great range of vintage accessories with price from £5 upwards. There are some free tickets available from the website www.vintagefashionfairlondon.co.uk.

More vintage Christmas goodies next week. Have you started on your Christmas shopping yet?

Tuesday Treats – Ethical Autumn Accessories

You can easily update your look each season with a few new accessories. So for this weeks Tuesday treats, I have decided to share some amazing ethical accessories that I have discovered recently.

These very cute detachable Peter Pan collars are the perfect way to update a plain dress or top. They are hand crafted from recycled leather in a North London workshop and available from Offset Warehouse.

I love sparkly skull jewellery anytime of the year but with Halloween not too far away, I think these Mexican Day of the Dead inspired pieces make the perfect treat. They are handmade in the UK from available from www.LilygraceOriginals.etsy.com.

lowie knitted accessories 1024x281 Tuesday Treats Ethical Autumn Accessories

I am already starting to feel the cold and I am in need of some cosy clothes to keep me toasty warm. These angora mix headbands and gloves by Lowie are hand knitted at home by villagers in Eastern China. They are available from Think Boutique.

I was really interested to read this article in the Guardian which goes to show just how difficult it is to know how to buy ethically. I was really surprised to hear how little some luxury fashion brands are doing, including two in particular which I really wouldn’t have expected (I am not going to name names, you will just have to read the article if you want to know).

On the plus side, some high street brands are doing really well and the latest Ethical Consumer Buyers guide buyers guide to high street clothes shops gave Monsoon and New Look top ratings for their supply chain policies. This is great news as I love the choice of accessories in Monsoon and today I have picked a few of my favourites for my Tuesday Treats round up.

Tuesday Treats – Ethical Autumn Trends

Today I thought that I would share some of the finds that I have made over the last few weeks. Despite the amazing heatwave that we have just had, it seems that autumn has finally arrived. I am feeling inspired by the red, orange, brown and yellow leaves and ready to cosy up with some warm knitwear.
