Scarf – Hoss Intropia
Top – really old from a department store
bamboo jeans – Monkee Genes
Boots – the back of my wardrobe
Bracelet – Swarovski
Handbag – not sure

Today I though I would wear an unusually minimalist outfit for me, in order to show off the beautiful scarf that I have just been sent by Hoss Intropia.

The scarf is designed in the signature Hoss Intropia colours by Swedish Blogger Elin Kling. It is available in Hoss Intropia  store and the online shop with all profits going to Intermon Oxfam.

Anyone who reads this blog will know that I am a huge fan of scarves so naturally when Hoss Intropia contacted me to see if I would like to recieve a Limited Edition scarf for them, naturally I couldn’t refuse. A scarf can completely transform an outfit and at this time of year are also really cosy and warm. This scarf is really big making it great for wrapping yourself up in and is made of a mixture of cotton and bamboo so is lovely and soft. The colours of this scarf are really beautiful and incredibly versatile going with so many different outfit. It draped just perfectly making it a completely effortless accessory to wear, great for those days when you are in a rush.

Hoss Intropia also told me a little about their commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. Which I was of course really interested to hear about.

As part of our policy of Social Corporate Responsability, we launched a collection last season in collaboration with Fabrics for Freedom Foundation to help promote different types of producers and offer them marketing possibilities
through its distribution channels. The collection included pottery handcrafted by Argentinian families using non toxic pigments, baskets created by weavers –both men and women- of the Fra Fra etnic group in Bolgatanga who preserve their native culture working under fair-trade standards, and many other collaborations that now give work today to thirty families in Buenos Aires. help women affected by HIV / AIDS…

Their World Selection collection for AW 2012 will be available soon, I will share more information as soon as I have it.

I hope you are having a good week. I am really looking forward to the weekend. A rare night out and an extra hour in bed when the clocks change plus my new ethical fashion website will hopefully be ready, finger crossed I can share next week. Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

With warmest wishes

Loving Kitty Do Little, A Lot!

One of the most amazing things about todays blogathon (apart from the fact that I get to raise money for a fantastic cause) is discovering amazing new places to shop that I didn’t even know about!

Kitty Do Little is definitely one of these places, a website crammed full of more delightful accessories than I could ever have imagined. Some times it can be so difficult to shop ethically and sustainably and to find beautiful pieces that you really love and want to buy. But it has just got a whole lots easier and I think I am definitely going to be sorted for some of my Christmas shopping now.

The designers and niche brands at Kitty Do Little use innovative and luxurious materials to make delicately detailed and handmade pieces. They range from brands with a well established following to  hot emerging labels. You are sure to find something a little unusual here that will add that be the perfect finishing touch to any outfit and help your existing wardrobe mesh with the latest trends.

I couldn’t possibly tell you all that is amazing about Kitty Do Little in this post, you will just have to go and check out the website for yourself. But I thought I would share with you just a few of the pieces.

clutch bag Loving Kitty Do Little, A Lot!

This clutch bag by Makki is made from Eel skin which is two to three times stronger than cow’s leather and because skins are a by-product of the food industry that would otherwise be discarded, Makki bags are durable, fashionable and, as a bonus, good for the planet. Best of all it looks amazing.

This sleek silver handbag has been cleverly made from seatbelts – what a great way to reuse them!

Honestly, you definitely have to check out the site for yourself at www.kittydolittle.com ! they have a whole section devoted to headwear and you can also search the site by answering the question, ‘what kind of Kitty are you?’ by choosing from all Flora and Fauna, Artful, Glamour Puss, Goddess, Vagabond or Wild Thing.

Who Made Your Pants?

pirate pink front Who Made Your Pants?

Pants are not something that I often blog about but actually I think a good pair of pants is a key component to any stylish outfit. A streamlined silhouette and comfortable fit will ensure that you look your best in whatever you choose to wear on the outside. Who Made Your Pants? is also the ideal choice for those who also want to feel good on the inside!

One customer of Who Made Your Pants has said

Your pants did not ride, slip, chafe or go up my bum

Lets face it this is definitely something we all look for in our pants, but  at Who Made Your Pants?, the pants are also made by women, for women, a little treat that will make you feel gorgeous everyday! They are made of traditional synthetic lingerie materials, fabrics that would otherwise have been discarded at the end of a season but are in perfectly good order.

The very name Who Made Your Pants? gets you thinking about who, where and how your pants are made, so many questions, which for many brands remain unanswered. But don’t worry you can find out exactly who has made these pants by entering in the date on the swing tag into the website. All of the pants are made in a factory in Southampton which is also a worker co operative working primarily with women refugees from from Afghanistan, Somalia, the Sudan – often places where there have been wars. Not only does Who Made Your Pants provide women with employment and training but also support and a safe and secure environment.

Becky at Who Made Your Pants has kindly tipped me off about a some hot pink lace that she has unearthed and has been made into a limited number of high waisted vintage/ 50′s look pirate pink shorts (pictured above). There is a fantastic discount of £5 off until tommorrow (subject to stock), you can find out how to order them here.

Check out www.whomadeyourpants.co.uk for a the full collection and special offers.

From Clothing – Ethical Fitness Wear Review

0593 From Clothing Ethical Fitness Wear Review

I was recently contacted by From Clothing, to see if I would like to select a piece of clothing from their ethical fitness wear collection to review. As I spend quite a lot of time in fitness classes, I am always short of comfy and flattering clothes to wear so I jumped at the chance. I got the loose capri organic cotton leggings in grey marl (pictured above).

The leggings were great, made from a high quality and thick organic cotton they were just about everything I want from my fitness clothing dark in colour (although they have more colours if you prefer brighter fitness wear), flattering, not too close fitting, super comfy and good for the planet too! The loose fit makes them ideal for classes like body balance and pilates where I do lots of stretching and so don’t want clothes that will restrict my movement. The thick waistband is also comfortable, flattering and keeps them securely on my waist. These would also make a great pair of trousers for lounging around on a sunday afternoon. It is really refreshing to have a piece of clothing that is  not covered with logos and brand names, it is just simple, stylish and contemporary.

In addition to fitness, From Clothing is also great for lifestyle/ lounge wear. The whole collection is made from GOTS (Global Organic Textiles Standard) certified organic cotton and is made for ‘natural shaped’ women.

Here is some more of the ethical fitness and lifestyle wear collection at From Clothing that I really liked. You can check out the full collection at www.fromclothing.com.

Tuesday Treats – Ethical Autumn Accessories

You can easily update your look each season with a few new accessories. So for this weeks Tuesday treats, I have decided to share some amazing ethical accessories that I have discovered recently.

These very cute detachable Peter Pan collars are the perfect way to update a plain dress or top. They are hand crafted from recycled leather in a North London workshop and available from Offset Warehouse.

I love sparkly skull jewellery anytime of the year but with Halloween not too far away, I think these Mexican Day of the Dead inspired pieces make the perfect treat. They are handmade in the UK from available from www.LilygraceOriginals.etsy.com.

lowie knitted accessories 1024x281 Tuesday Treats Ethical Autumn Accessories

I am already starting to feel the cold and I am in need of some cosy clothes to keep me toasty warm. These angora mix headbands and gloves by Lowie are hand knitted at home by villagers in Eastern China. They are available from Think Boutique.

I was really interested to read this article in the Guardian which goes to show just how difficult it is to know how to buy ethically. I was really surprised to hear how little some luxury fashion brands are doing, including two in particular which I really wouldn’t have expected (I am not going to name names, you will just have to read the article if you want to know).

On the plus side, some high street brands are doing really well and the latest Ethical Consumer Buyers guide buyers guide to high street clothes shops gave Monsoon and New Look top ratings for their supply chain policies. This is great news as I love the choice of accessories in Monsoon and today I have picked a few of my favourites for my Tuesday Treats round up.
