Eco Shoes for Spring

I definitely heard my mum say that there was a heat wave on its way quite soon. I won’t really believe it until it happens, but I see no harm in getting ready for that warmer weather just in case. I have been checking out some of the latest styles of shoes for spring in the green (eco section) at Spartoo. If you haven’t checked it out yet I would definitely recommend as they have one of the most extensive selections of eco shoes that I have seen anywhere.

Here is what has caught my eye for spring.

sandals swedish hasbeens Eco Shoes for SpringThese sandals by Swedish Hasbeens have a kind of chunky charm to them. I love the colour and the fact that the chunky heel is going to be fairly easy to walk in. They will look good with so many of my dresses for summer. In case you are wondering about the ethics behind the Swedish Hasbeens brand, they are still handmaking their shoes in the traditional way using ecologically prepared natural grain leather. Their production methods are kind to both people and planet.

Dream in Green are one of my favourite Eco shoe brands. I have a pair of shoe boots from them which are super comfy and go with everything I have worn them constantly throughout the winter. So for Spring I was really interested to see that they have some great flat shoes which would again go with everything.

Ballerinas Dream in Green GUERTUNE 177212 350 A Eco Shoes for Spring

These Guertine Ballerina pumps are made from vegetable tanned leather an eco friendly alternative to conventional leather which uses a cocktail of chemicals in the tanning process.

Sandals Timberland EK MAESLIN ANKLE STRAP SANDAL 173567 350 A Eco Shoes for SpringI am also a big fan of Timberland for their high quality, practical and stylish clothes and shoes. This pair of sandals have a simple style and incredibly versatile. The tan colour and cork wedge heel (apparently) helps to lengthen the leg and with legs as short as mine, I can do with all of the help I can get. Another fantastic pair of shoes for wearing with all of my summer dresses.

Are you ready for spring? which of these styles would you wear?

A good pair of winter boots is most definitely a staple of my winter wardrobe (and I guess most other peoples). They need to look great, be super comfortable to walk in and able to keep my feet toasty warm no matter what the British weather throws at us. Product Review – SPAIR Sandals

Spair Sandals Product Review SPAIR Sandals

Do you ever wish you could slip out of your heels and into a pair of cool flip flops instead?

I was recently sent a pair of SPAIR Sandals which cleverly fold into a little pouch which will easily fit into most handbags. Should you need to wear them, them, the little pouch turns into a bag that can be used to carry your shoes home. I have seen similar ideas on the market before, but what I really loved about  Spair sandals is that they are 100% Recycled tires and earth-friendly leatherette.

They are actually a kind of solution to an environmental issue as stated on their website

improper disposal of over 300 million rubber tires per year is a  serious risk to our health and environment. Disease-carrying pests and  mosquitos breed in the stagnant water that collects in tire piles, and  spread deadly viruses like West Nile, encephalitis, and malaria.

Whilst I haven’t had the chance to do a manicure to show off the actual sandals that I was sent, I have given them a try and can confirm that they are super comfy. I think they would be fantastic for weddings when I almost always feel the need to kick my shoes off by the end of the day so that I can strut my stuff on the dance floor.

The shoes are available in 3 colours in the US from www.spairsandals.com

Would you find these useful?

Pikolinos – Ethical Sandals

I have mentioned in the past that Spartoo has one of the best selections of ethical sandals and shoes around including some fantastic brands like Melissa and Dream in Green. Today I wanted to share with you a Spanish ethical shoe brand Pikolinos.

I have a pair of Pikolinos shoes and they are fantastic quality, really well made with lots of attention to detail and also incredibly comfy. They are the sort of shoes that I really treasure and enjoy wearing.  The brand concentrates creating on natural shoes made by artisans with respect for the environment. The leathers used to make their shoes are vegetable tanned and are chromium free.

For spring summer, they have some really beautiful beaded and cut out sandals which would be perfect for wearing with boho, ethnic and festival fashion type of outfits!

30 Days of Ethical Fashion – One Moment Running Shoes

01m 30 Days of Ethical Fashion One Moment Running Shoes

01M 3 30 Days of Ethical Fashion One Moment Running Shoes

I have recently taken up running and have read lots about barefoot running which some say is the best way to run. There are a number of different barefoot running shoes on the market but when I saw the latest trend 01M or One Moment Running Shoes, I just couldn’t help but share it, partly because I am guessing they will get a mixed response and I would love to know what others think.

On the one hand, the brightly coloured shoes immediatly makes me think of Crocs (which I really hate)  and as much as many may proclaim bare foot running to be great, I really can’t imagine running any distance in any shoe without cushioning in it. But on the other hand I do spend most of the summer months walking around in barefeet and I am strangely drawn to the minimalist style and bright colours. I can’t really work out exactly what I would wear with them  though at the moment.

The best bit is that they only cost £8 and they are small and flexible enough to fold up in your pocket. I definitely see how they might come in useful in the summer months when those high heels just get too much. They are also eco friendly because they are made from 100% natural materials which will biodegrade after they have been thrown away.

What do you think would you wear them? and what would you wear them with?
