Back before Easter, I went for lunch with my sister at Las Iguanas then on to see Dirty Dancing at Bristol Hippodrome, which was fabulous! I wore my new TOMS glitter shoes and decided that it was about time I wrote a review as I think they have an interesting story to tell.
If you don’t already know about TOMS shoes they have interesting policy called One for One® where they donate a pair of shoes to someone in need for every pair sold. Since 2006 TOMS Shoes have given 10 million pairs of shoes to children in need. They are also continously working to help more by providing different types of shoes based on terrain and season, or creating local jobs by producing shoes in countries where they give and to make their operations more sustainable. TOMS Shoes are always given to children through humanitarian organizations who incorporate shoes into their community development programs. Not only do I love the simple style of TOMS shoes that is available in so many different patterns and fabrics but I love the story behind them. A few years ago I read the book, Start Something That Matters by Blake Mycoskie, the Founder and Chief Shoe Giver of TOMS. The book is all about about how TOMS started and provides both information and inspiration for anyone wanting to start a business that puts people at its centre.
Any how I decided to treat myself to a pair of black glitter womens classics, which I could wear with casual or more fancy outfits and are the perfect way to add a little sparkle to the everyday. When the shoes turned up, I was at first disappointed to find them a little snug. I was undecided whether to try a size up, so I decided to google ‘TOMS shoes sizing’ and discovered that it is quite common for them to be a little tight and after a few wears they should stretch. This was spot on and after only a few hours of wearing around the house, they went from far to tight to just the right size. I am definitely glad that I hung onto them! Whilst I am wearing them with a dress in the picture above, they also look great with skinny jeans or leggings.
The only point that I would make to anyone planning on buying TOMS shoes online that the shoes are sent from Holland and in the case of returns would need to be returned to The Netherlands at your own cost so check the sizing carefully.
What do you think of TOMS? do you love the style or story or both?
I hope that you are having a good week!
With warmest wishes
