There now plenty of choices available for ethical accessories including some pretty amazing handbags. Today I wanted to introduce you to 2 brands which do some great handbags that have also been made with respect for people and planet.
Dream in Green
I quite regularly rave on about the eco friendly shoes at Dream in Green so was pretty pleased to discover that they do some equally amazing sustainable handbags. Just like the shoes the handbags are ethically made in Europe from vegetable tanned leather and other natural and recyclable materials. This means that the tanning process does not use nasty toxic chemicals, as it does with most conventionally tanned leather. Even there packaging is eco friendly being made from recycled cardboard. The bags are really versatile styles and neutral colours that I think would go with almost any outfit. They are definitely the sort of handbag that I would be a great investment and hopefully last a lifetime. The bag pictured above is the Manca. It is available in 2 different colours. There are also a range of other lovely styles available.
SkunkFunk is another brand that I regularly rave about because I really love their unique and different style. There handbags are practical, colourful and fun. The ‘Already’ style picture above is made from strips of material and can be carried over the shoulder or the strap can be removed and it can be carried by hand. SkunkFunk have a really strong commitment to sustainability and ethical manufacture with fashionable clothes that are designed to be inidvidual and to last. They use a range of eco friendly fabrics including GOTS certified organic cotton and recycled polyester fibres and regenerated cellulose. They also ensure that their suppliers and their supply chain patterns as a minimum.
