Finding a great pair of shoes that has been made with respect for people and planet can some times be a bit of an issue. From the chemicals used to tan the leather to the toxic glues used to hold the shoes together, our shoes can have a big impact on the environment. So today I thought I would share some fantastic brands that are making big steps (if you will excuse the pun) forward in ethical and eco friendly shoes.
One of my favourite shoe brands, Dream in Green have a great selection of wedge shoes and sandals for summer. The shoes are made using natural and recycled materials. They use leather that has been tanned with vegetable tans rather than toxic chromium. I have a few pairs of shoes by Dream in Green and can definitely vouch for their comfort and high quality.
Another big favourite of mine are the jelly shoes by Melissa made from MELFEX,a form of pvc that is hypoallergenic, odorless, neutral and natural. It can also be recycled. I love the fun colours and different shapes that are on offer.
The Timberland Earthkeepers range have a great choice of eco friendly footwear if you are looking for practical and comfortable outdoor shoes but they also have some great neutral coloured heels which would look great with just about any summer dress.
Birkenstock clogs are another really comfortable choice and I am loving all of the different choices available including this fun floral pair. They are made in Germany!
What shoes are you wearing to keep your feet cool and stylish in this beautiful summer weather? Have a lovely weekend.
With warmest wishes
