Ever since seeing the amazing florals at Paul Smith, Jil Sander and Erdem for autumn and winter 2011, I have been lusting after dark florals. I think I even love them more than their bright summer counterparts as the black background makes the colours of the flowers look even more vibrant. I have also been really inspired by Vix to get myself a vintage maxi dress.
Dark floral prints are definitely nothing new and a quick look on ebay confirmed that there is just as much, if not more, choice of vintage florals as there is new. I won this dress on ebay.I thought I had made a big mistake as the waist size was about 2 inches too small on ebay but I was pleasantly surprised when it turned up to find it is slightly elasticated at the back and it fitted just right. Even the length was just right which I couldn’t believe as I am only 5ft 2 and I have never managed to find a maxi dress to fit. The shoes I am wearing are from the Alexandre Herchcovitch collection for Melissa.I also bid on really beautiful black long sleeved maxi with beautiful bright flowers but I decided not to go above £20 for it and was outbid. Kind of wishing I had now though!
I hope that you are having a lovely weekend.
With warmest wishes
Ceri

You look absolutely beautiful, I adore that dress on you! It fits like it was made for you and makes you look so tall and willowy, too.
There’s some beauties on ebay at the moment, I have about 25 in my watch list. x

It looks fabulous! Are the arms attached to it or is that a mini cardie?

Hi Franca
The arms are attached. I should have shown a side picture, the sleeves are huge, it is like wearing a whole skirt on each arm!
hi my dear-the maxi dress was a gem of a find, lovely vibrant colours and a really fab style, it looks great! xx

That dress is lovely! I really love ‘dark florals’ as you call them, I just never had a name for them before now! They are so perfect for cheering up dark autumnal days.
